And now I'm gonna get right on that

Six things.

this one is a candidate for a t-shirt as well - particularly the "stop global warming"

That third panel ROCKS. Especially the "oh pooh".

Posted by: Trip at June 29, 2006 11:23 AM

Global warming and the cat are genius. There's something similar about the two, though I'm not sure what. Maybe the feet? Anyway, I'd like to put in a request for more anthropomorphizing, if I may.

I'm not sure anything could top "You're a silly shmilly," but I enjoyed the global warming panel very much.

Francis, do you get all giggly when you know you've drawn a really good one?

Posted by: ruby at June 29, 2006 02:57 PM

I don't know about him, but I get all giggly when I read a really good one. Anything that mentions global warming and polyamory on the same page has to be hot.

I must weigh in on this, too. Love panel 3, but also think panel 2 is right on.

Posted by: BAMBAM at June 29, 2006 03:55 PM

Oh, I love your instantiation of global warming. If Al Gore saw how cute it is he wouldn't be trying to stop it either.

Posted by: Erin at June 29, 2006 05:23 PM

Hey, could you please get famous enough that "polyamory" becomes a household word and I no longer have to waste time explaining it to people? Thanks.

Posted by: Rick at June 29, 2006 06:01 PM

Also, don't miss the nice details in panel 6!

Posted by: Ruby Dohler at June 29, 2006 08:19 PM

Geeze, polyamory's so hip these days. Polyamory: It ain't just for ugly old people on HBO's "Real Sex" any more...

Posted by: Orange at June 30, 2006 01:25 PM

A word to the wise: Mothers don't *want* to know everything that's going on in their children's lives.

Posted by: Victoria at July 1, 2006 12:41 PM

And that's why gay people should just keep that to themselves.

Posted by: Francis at July 2, 2006 01:47 AM

*Exactly.*

Posted by: Victoria at July 2, 2006 09:31 AM

Okay...if your second comment is going along with my joke, I'm having a hard time reconciling it with your first comment, and if you're not joking, I'm offended.

Posted by: Francis at July 2, 2006 12:06 PM

Since when was I ever serious, Francis? Oh, okay, maybe once.

I'm just telling you what my mom said to me when I came out to her. She also said, "But I want grandchildren!" I just stared at her and thought to myself, This isn't going well.

Posted by: Victoria at July 2, 2006 02:35 PM

Victoria, *hugs* that sounds like it was hard to go through...but re: parents *not* wanting to know everything:

Have you met *my* mother? ;-)

Posted by: Lorinne at July 2, 2006 10:33 PM

Lorinne, yes, my mom's reaction was nightmare at the time, but it was probably more of a nightmare for my girlfriend, who was *also present* for the outing. If I were a funny character in a movie I would have said about the grandchildren comment, "Well, you should have told me that before Pam B. and I started practice kissing in the 10th grade!"

Not to worry, I'm not scarred for life or anything. Although I might need a few more hugs just to be on the safe side. ;-)

P.S. More advice: Don't believe your siblings (or advice columnists) when they say, "Mom knows," because she may not!

P.P.S. I'd love to meet your mother.

Posted by: Victoria at July 3, 2006 12:03 AM

This all makes *much* more sense with the requisite backstory. Thank you for elaborating. I felt like I must be missing something, but I just wasn't getting it.

Posted by: Francis at July 3, 2006 09:17 AM

Wait, you're polyamorous?

If so, I'm totally taking you out for drinks next time I'm in NYC.

I mean, I would, anyway, but, you know, everything's more fun with ulterior motives.

Posted by: CC at July 3, 2006 12:43 PM

Forget Francis -- Victoria, wanna hang out tomorrow? I'll even come out to *your* neighborhood!

.,)

p.s. Don't miss the nice detail on panel 5!

Posted by: Ruby Dohler at July 3, 2006 05:45 PM

You know I do, Ruby!

Hey, Francis, mind if I go on a bikini-top date with one of your girlfriends tomorrow? I think that polyamory's contagious.

Posted by: Victoria at July 3, 2006 11:16 PM

Cluechick: Yes, I am polyamorous. I hadn't intended on outing myself here, but then I thought of a joke about it, and I cared more about finishing my cartoon than *not* outing myself.

Victoria: I've never heard the phrase "bikini-top date". Is it common to refer to dates by the level of revealingness of the garments worn (like "long-sleeved shirt and capri pants date" or "halter top and Daisy Dukes date"), and I am just not aware of this fact?

Posted by: Francis at July 4, 2006 12:08 AM

Well, I can certainly appreciate that balance of privacy vs. dedication to a joke! At least one small section of your fan club has just gone atwitter with the news :)

Posted by: CC at July 4, 2006 09:23 AM

So, um, just how polyamorous are you...? *wink wink wink*

Posted by: Candice at July 7, 2006 01:21 AM

Well...polyamorous enough to have a pretty full social calendar. But I appreciate the flirting!

Posted by: Francis at July 7, 2006 01:50 AM

Hey man, I found your cartoon by googling images of "Albuquerque." It's a panel in one of your six things. You're brilliant. This is the best things I've ever found by accident, even more than that sweet cave in mountains of Albuquerque. Keep up the good work.

So then, I woke up.. and I had no idea where I was, or how I had gotten there. All I know is the bed was hard, the pillow was plastic, and my ass was hanging out of this horrible blue cotton gown.
And then, sitting at the computer in the place they tell me is my house, I found Heaneyland on my favorites list, and it all came rushing back to me.. the laughter, the tears of joy streaming down my face.. the office chair sliding out from beneath me, my head hitting corner of my desk..
Thank you.. thank you Francis for giving me back my life.. Six Things brought it all back for me.. and now I remember how much my life sucked before the coma...*#&%!@!
Anyhow.. off to work.
