Ingenious, but...

So, sure, it's kind of clever to invent a bicycle that allows you to ride sidesaddle, but how smart an idea is it to create a vehicle whose driver faces a different direction than the vehicle actually moves?

i have a friend in davis who makes nifty creations like this. he even had a two-person unicycle (but it was VERY dangerous to ride!). some of his "whymcycles" are pictured here: http://whymcycles.home.comcast.net/

the scooter doesn't really show how much fun it is to ride. it's got an off-center rear wheel... you ride it by "bouncing" on the deck.

Like snowboards?

I don't know, it's easier to twist one's body to face front from a standing position than a sitting position. And snowboards don't spend so much time in traffic.
