Just when I thought I was getting good at the first one. Well, I made it to level 12, at least. (Something I couldn't do on the old game.) The additions to the new game are much needed.

Level 10 here. Silver hammer took care of reds and blank blues, no problem. Do I need to hold out for a gold hammer to get the bombs? Or just avoid the bombs no matter what?

And I really like the heart shield feature. What is the logic behind the loss of the shield? Is is time/levels? Or is it number of misses? On the down side, he compensated for the new feature by making the heart refills appear less often and also not refilling as much per hit.

ps - shouldn't you be prepping for a show or something?

You need to just avoid all the bombs completely. Although you're really going to want a gold hammer around level 17, I think it is.

The ice shield seems to absorb a certain number of misses before shattering/melting/whatever it does.

With all the fanfare about the new version, I'm sorry I didn't mention this sooner. I went back to replay Grow a month or so ago and saw this, but since I can not and will never pass level 10, I assumed the only changes were the continues and whatever that calculator in the store is. I apologize to those who would have appreciated knowing about this at that time. I grew up in the Eighties, people. A time when young boys learned to play computer games because they lacked hand-eye coordination, and find modern games like Diablo to be both as excruciating and mind-numbing as sports. And at least with sports I get a wicked black-eye to show for it.

The ice shield, so far as I can tell, has a light blue line within the hearts that 'melts' inward as you take hits and when it reaches the center, the ice disappears.

Damn you, Francis Heaney! My productivity has been reduced to ZERO. Must...beat...game.

OK, I'll bite—what is that thing on level 10, and what am I supposed to do about it?

Thanks,
-V.

It seems that you're supposed to pound the bomb boy on the head while he has his eye and not the bomb on his shoulders. Many, many times. The red power bar over his head shows his life force left. Watch out if you have wings at that point. It's very easy to get two or three pounds on his bomb head before you stop yourself.

This has killed me every time. Where's the flipping raygun when I need it?
