The same reason that kids like to eat rum chocolates, silly! So that they can pretend they're drunk and do things like attempt to make out with their babysitters when they're 10. Not that I ever did such a thing, of course. Because that would be pitiful.

Amy's Ice Creams in Austin has offered ice cream flavors made with Guinness and Shiner Bock (not together ... separately) in the past. They put asterisks next to their ice-cream flavors that contain alcohol, and make it clear that these are not flavors for kids. So far, I've heard no complaints, except for a friend who actually tried the Guinness ice cream and said it was just too strange.

I have had Guinness ice cream! (I think it was at Toscanini's, in Boston.) And...it was strange. One taste spoon was sufficient.

I had Toscanini's Guinness ice cream and rather enjoyed. Then again, I'd been drinking beer for several hours so maybe my taste buds were just finding comfort in the familiar.
