Don't be silly. Scrooge McDuck is Donald's maternal uncle. Donald's mother was Scrooge's sister, Hortense Duck (née McDuck). Hortense's husband was the American-born Quackmore Duck.

Here's the family tree that Number One (Dime) Scroogeologist and artists Don Rosa created.

Wow. Disney takes its backstories seriously.

And to think: Without this family tree, the day that Huey, Dewey, Louie, and mama Della appear on the Maury Povich show might have come as a complete surprise. (I Feathered My Nest With All 3 Drakeson Brothers... Who's the Daddy?!)

I love the fact that his grandfather, Fergus McDuck, married Downy O'Drake. Though, man, Grandma Coot sure raised her ducklings to marry well--into the McDucks in the one case, the Ganders in another--when you see what white trash stock her husband comes from.

If there is one piece of Disneyana where backstory is taken seriously, it's the Duckburg mythos. Carl Barks's creation is absurdly complete, and in many places in Europe, taken more seriously than religion. Try to find a copy of Don Rosa's "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" and you'll get a glimpse of how intricately detailed Scrooge's biography is.

In any case, that Don Rosa family tree linked above is extremely incomplete. This huge pdf will give you a better sense of Donald's relations.
