Like they said, this is Fantagraphic's second shot at reprinting them. The first time they were these awful looking paperbacks with really shitty covers. I'm so glad they got Jeff Smith on this; he's as great a choice as Seth was for those terrific Peanuts books.

And I think the last round had two big problems -- it didn't include the Sundays (unless I'm misremembering), and the number of strips in each volume was too low.

If you can't wait and want a good variety of strips, nothing beats hunting down a used copy of Ten Ever Lovin' Blue-Eyed Years with Pogo: it's the first and still the best Pogo anthology ever. (Except for the great "Yoo Hoo, Killed Cock Robin?” story where they dropped the last page to make the layout fit... grrrr)

Oh, I've had "Ten Ever Lovin' Years..." since I was in, like, 5th grade -- great, great book. I wonder if Fantagraphics will also reprint the non-comic strip Pogo material, which include many of my favorite bits (like "Suffern on the Steppes" and "Back to Earth"). I mean, I think I own most of them, but those books are getting kind of beaten-up after all these years.

What this discussion makes me realize is that it's too bad you weren't an NPL member when I was playing charades in Portland and I had to clue Treesong's Pogo quote "Ekibastuzugol water -- drink it and ha-ha!"

Hey, thanks for the mention! The Complete Pogo has actually had a few delays in production and has been pushed back to 2008. Keep an eye on our blog for future announcements!

Hey, thanks for the heads-up! A few extra months will not diminish my psychedness.
