Comments: You see, "separation of church and state" is clearly a typo for "separation of churches by the state"

I think by "express" they mean "enforce".

You've got to love a news story that is eight sentences long and eight paragraphs long. Detail-rich!

This resolution is astoundingly stupid and insensitive, but at the same time, it's just a resolution -- it doesn't have the force of law. So I don't know that anyone could do much about it, other than calling their local legislators to remind them that the first amendment, by implication, allows freedom from religion.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has a more complete article about the resolution. (The headline, though, is a masterpiece of understatement: "Proposed House resolution on religion irks some here.")

Am I missing something about why they keep referring to "a" Christian god (or "God," as in the SLPD article)? I thought there was only one (well, "One" that shape-shifted among "Three," depending on the circumstances). How many are there?

Debby, to be precise, it's a "proposed resolution," so it doesn't even have the force of a resolution. But it has no business being "just a resolution" to begin with.

Omigod, has someone alerted Bill O'Reilly to the sufferings of Missouri Christians? Their rights are being trampled by "some" who are "irked."

"protect the majority's right to express their religious beliefs." From what I've heard, the local buddhist temple in St. Louis has been going around roughing people up if they don't recognize that the world is simply illusion.

Turns out you can totally hear one hand clapping if it's hitting someone in the face in the process.

I was accosted by a gang of Buddhists the other day and they freed me from all worldly desires ... if you know what I mean.

Did you catch the survey attached to an AP story about this resolution, also on kmov.com? It asked this: "Do you think a resolution recognizing the role of Christianity in our nation is a good idea?"

Talk about misleading! No surprise: The majority of responders said they like it.
