Guitar volunteers are the real guitar heroes

I don't know how likely the Programmers That Be over at Red Octane are to pay attention to this, but here's a website where you can suggest songs for Guitar Hero 3. Why not go over and talk up Ted Leo, Gang of Four, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Pixies, the New Pornographers, Fountains of Wayne, the Jam, the Futureheads, XTC, the White Stripes, and Elvis Costello, and perhaps help make me an even happier man next holiday season. (I would also enjoy Jethro Tull, Yes, Sunny Day Real Estate, and more Rush, since I am a prog nerd.)

I see that Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper" is very high on the request list right now. Wouldn't that song be better for Cowbell Hero?

Yes, well, add Marillion and The Church to prog bands that deserve a shot at the new guitar hero. Don't even get me started on the Grateful Dead. They should have their own video game.

At least the Church is huge in Australia. Probably do well with them on an Australia-only release.

BTW, nice ties :) Glad to see some things haven't changed in 20 years.

Soooo, what I'm really seeing here is that if they just stuck a big "put money in a jar until we can afford the bands you like" banner on their webpage, they could keep cranking out Guitar Hero XXXVI, like they were Final Fantasy sequels?

Dang. Tell me that's not a business model.

Also, I've got one dollar for the man/grrl who kicks Toby Keith in the nutses-es.

Haha, I've just discovered Guitar Hero II. I tried it out at Game Stop a week or so ago. I suck at it, but for some reason I still love it. Maybe because my boyfriend (who is a gamer) is really good at it, but he says it's impossible for him to play music.
