The nominees for the Thurber Prize were announced today; Holy Tango is not among them. The Daily Show book was a given, and I know nothing about Funny in Farsi, but The Borowitz Report: The Big Book of Shockers? It's a book of frickin' fake news articles. I mean, yes: he is funny. But I am prejudiced against humor with a limited shelf life, and it's basically The Onion done by someone else. So I am disgruntled.

I'm also annoyed that the nominees were apparently decided back in August and leaked somehow. Do the actual nominees get notified of their status while the rest of us are left hanging for a month? That's not cool.

Okay, that's it. I'm totally boycotting the Thurber Prize festivities this year.

That CAN'T be right! Not only did you deserve it, but I stuffed the ballot box! Maybe they're waiting to give you a Super-Secret-Special-Grand-Ultra-Mega-Prize or something?

I'm feeling the need to send you a picture of my breasteses or something, to console you. Or maybe just write a poem about your handsomeness and your awesome brain. I'll do somethin'....

Two theories:

1. Lifetime acheivement nomination for Borowitz in appreciation of his creation of "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air".

2. Not enough Bush bashing in Holy Tango to warrant a nomination from East Coast elite liberal organization.

Not that they're anything wrong with being an elite East Coat liberal, mind you...

To them we say, "Burp here, Ritz." Rub the prizer out...

You know why you were passed over? Borowitz knew that you have to RUB THEIR PREZ to get nominated. Did you rub their prez, Francis?

I think that we need to remember at this point that Thurber had vision problems. Obviously the prize committee was blind. Blind!

Wow. I certainly hope it's not just that I've been wrong this whole time, and your book actually sucks.
