What's that? So much money was being spent on the war in Iraq that Bush misled the country into, there wasn't enough left over for shoring up levees in New Orleans? Well, that's just peachy. I think preventing major cities from turning into lakes might just be one reasonable interpretation of "homeland defense," myself.

I saw someone say on the news tonight that they'd looked at it and the cost/benefit ratio just wasn't there.

Tell that to the people whose homes are 10 feet underwater right now. :P

You know what would be good for homeland security? Let's turn this into a drill, and see whether our plans for feeding and sheltering and providing medical care for a hundred thousand people in case of a "dirty-bomb" attack are any good.
We do have plans for that, right?
