We used the "Margaret Keane" filter

Now it can be revealed: the cutest picture in the history of stuff. Our beloved cat Twyla. In a sink.

No visible soap scum, toothpaste globs, or rust stains. Who does such a nice job keeping that sink so shiny?

Well, we have visual confirmation of Twyla scrubbing it out. It's obvious that she does it.

No, I don't own a cat. Why do you ask?

I think it must be Twyla Herself, keeping her background pristine for viewers.

At least, I know Francis and I are total pigs unless there is a party planned. Um, are you coming to the next party? We'd, uh, love to have you!

Wuzza Wuzza!

OH! So THAT'S why the bathroom sink is full of cat hair! And smells like tuna!

Just so you know, I have asked my cats WHY THEY DON'T EVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT. But of course my cats are the sweetest things ever, so tomorrow I will probably forgive them for not curling up in the sink.

The secret of the clean sink: either we were just about to have a party or I had just trimmed me beard (I had a beard then) and cleaned the sink as part of the process of getting all the little hairs out of it.

Ick, cats!

Ellen's all about the "ick" these days—smokers, cats, all ick to Ellen. (Oh, wait! I agree with both of those.)

Rose, I'd be delighted to attend your next party. Do you think you might hold it in Chicago? That would be so much more convenient for me than New York.

Francis, very nice Spiral puzzle in the new issue of GWOP. So literary! (Show-off.)

Posted by: Orange at August 30, 2005 07:54 PM

Oh, I wonder how old that puzzle is? And more importantly, I wonder if they'll ever pay me a reprint fee? (Probably not.) I haven't written anything new for Games in ages. Still on the masthead, though! (Even though I've asked to be taken off.)

Oh, the ickiness goes back to the 1972 comic "En the Barnard Bombshell" by my sister Linda (I must get it scanned - except it's all in-jokes). Millipede does En's hair for a TV appearance (don't ask), and seeing the beehive updo in the mirror En says, "Ick, I hate it Mitzi!"

This was continued in the old NYT crossword chatroom, where my catchphrase was "Ick, drinking!" And so on.

I just read part of my diary I'm not excerpting, where my friend B complained it was "hot and ickypoo" so this must have been normal slang in '60s Great Neck.
