I know, I know, it's not a cartoon, but if you haven't figured out by now that this blog is all about my whims, you haven't been reading long enough

This is a song I wrote...about five and a half years ago? At the time I didn't think I was writing about anything in particular -- the opening couplet just popped into my head as I was playing the chord pattern -- although in retrospect I think I was subconsciously writing about what turned out to be my impending breakup with my then-girlfriend Cheryl, the relationship having been on the rocks for quite some time by then.

Anyway, as I've been having problems with my mood over the past few months, I broke the song out again in an attempt to convince myself that, you know, yes, sometimes external things are out of your control and beyond your ability to fix, and that can be depressing, but maybe you should get a grip already.

MP3: "I Fucked Up"

Wow. This is like "a very special episode" of Heaneyland. That's cool. Get it out.

And when the mood problems subside, crank out some more Fizzywinkle. The public loves him, and he may be just the thing that lets the healing from within begin.

Or not. Maybe we should just go get some beer.

Or Fizzywinkle could get some beer. There's nothing like a foul-mouthed, maudlin elf telling the drunk squirrel on the barstool next to him how much he loves him.

Did anyone ever tell you that you sound like Jello Biafra, only less screamy? And more melodic? And not so thrashy?

Gee, if I only had a picture of you to swoon to, like an album cover of old, that would make my day.

I've saved the mp3 to my harddrive for those days when, well, you know....

Allow me to be the first to buy the maudlin elf and his squirrel buddy shots, as long as they'll join me in a karaoke session of the song.

Well done sir.

Outstanding - loved it - feel better..... I just played it for my sister, she loved it too.

Psst! Mona! Click here ...

[Let's see if Francis lets this one post. Hee.]

Tom: Next week, on an even more special episode of Heaneyland, Francis gets hammered on Dutch gin, watches the Muppet Show, and wakes up with a hangover. Oh wait, that was last night.

Mona: No, in fact, no one has ever told me that.

Steve: I would love nothing more in this world than to watch an elf and a squirrel do drunken karaoke.

Erin: I was actually considering Photoshopping that picture into a star-shaped border with rainbows and things surrounding it, suitable for mooning over, but I hadn't gotten around to it yet...and might never have, to be perfectly honest.

Man, that's catchy. I'll probably be singing it softly to myself during this meeting I have in 45 minutes.

What a marvelously happy-tuned little bummer of a number. Sort of a Warren Zevon meets The Turtles tune, except they already did that, with "Outside Chance," which wasn't nearly so cheerfully morose. Hmmn. Better than Zevon & Flo & Eddie, and a clever cartoonist to boot. You, my man, are the uber-artist!

Erin, thanks! Our boy is so...so clean-cut! And yet he swears and draws horny bees! Oh, what a good day!
