Geddy leaves

There are a lot of people who do not share my love of the cheesy prog band Rush. Generally, their objections fall into one of three categories:

1) I don't like Geddy Lee's voice.
2) Geddy Lee's voice makes me want to scream.
3) If I could rip Geddy Lee's vocal cords from his throat with my bare hands, I would.

Well, there is a solution to all three problems: a mash-up that replaces Geddy Lee with Annie Lennox. You're welcome.

Rush is my all-time favorite band - hands down, no contest.

Annie Lennox is a permanent member of the "party list" that my wife and I maintain in our heads. The list is of people we feel are super cool and we feel would be great to have at a party where we could invite anyone. I could listen to her sing for hours.

All that being said, I could only stomach about half of that sample. Perhaps it's the OCD in me but my brain was screaming, "MAKE IT STOP!" as I listened. It wasn't the pleasant union of "You got your peanut butter in my chocolate" that I had hoped for. I really don't know what it was but it was just painful.

Wow, what a rush.

My roommate and I had an ongoing Geddy Lee battle. I had no sense of pattern recognition. He'd come charging in, really excited, and call me over to his stereo, telling me about some 'really cool new band/song' he heard about. I'd get excited, too, until the inevitable strains of 'subdivisions' blared out of his speakers.

Fuckin' Rush.

Wow. Proof positive that it really is the guitar line and NOT Geddy Lee's obnoxious voice that makes something sound distinctively like a Rush song. It's amazing how LITTLE difference a different vocal makes!

(Which is not to say I disliked it. I liked it quite a bit. But then, I never hated Rush, Geddy "Nasality" Lee notwithstanding.)

For all of you Geddy Lee bashers, YOU SUCK ! His voice is unique and is THE VOICE of Rush. Stop your whining and find something else to do, you're pathetic.

the people that hate geddy lee's voice are same as the people who buy jessica simpson records and listen to them while they breed. you are all assholes, berating things because you can't understand why they are good. "duh... boys ain't sposda sing so high, ger-hyuck!" you are snuffing out everything good in this world and keeping the rest of us stuck in a filthy, familiar, hamster wheel of non-entertainment. evolve. evolve, or be sterilized. seriously.

I'm 39 years old. I've been a fan of Rush since I heard the first three bars of "Anthem" when I was fourteen years old. I've followed them with great enthusiasm ever since. They make me proud to be Canadian, and although I've never met them and probably will never meet them, I feel that they have affected my life profoundly, and I consider them friends who will always have my support. I wish them the best ,especially with a nod towards Alex and his current conflict with those from the "south".

I'm 38 years old. I was an instant Rush fan after hearing the first three bars of "Anthem" back when I was 14. I've followed their music enthusiastically ever since. Their music has had a profound effect on my own musicianship and my life. I am proud that they are Canadian, and they make me be proud to be Canadian. Also, after more than 30 years together they are still tight brothers, unlike most bandmates that hate each other after only a couple of years. That's all I have to say.

Did I mention that I was a 36 year old Rush fan... I also really like beer...

You can say what you want about Geddy's voice but you can't take away his abilities on the bass and keyboard. I am a drummer so at first I only listened to rush because I wanted to hear Neil drum and in the songs I recognized some awesome bass lines performed by Geddy.

First of all, I like Rush. But sometimes, somebody says something so incomprehensibly stupid that I must bleed some of my mental pain on them and get them all messy so they have to take a cold shower.

Something along the lines of "You're not famous and rich, so shut up."

People don't have to mine gold to recognize shit, people. I'm serious. If something hurts your head, then it hurts your fucking head. There's nothing to "understand" about it.

Oh, and uh... "You guys that don't like Geddy Lee's voice are the same people who buy Ashlee Simpson records and listen to them while you breed, you intolerant berating assholes blah blah blah blah." Think about what you just said, fuckhead. Can you spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E?

I think that Geddy's voice is quite questionable at times, but I really don't care. My first Rush album was 2112 and it was really the instruments which sold me on Rush. They're VERY talented.

Though ive only been a rush fan for about a year, i am completely obsessed with them. I think that Geddys voice is extremely good in my own opinion, the only song i can even notice that his voice is high is on Hemispheres, Circumstances and i love that song. And as them being canadian i wouldnt have them from any other country (i am from the usa) i think peopel from canada are amazing people, and rush goes to show the awsome people that come from there. I love rush and always will through all stages of music they progress though (exsept if they go rap ill have to listen to there new stuff...and by the way the song roll the bones NEVER happened :P) Besides geddys voice i think he is the most musically inclined person of all time (ofcoarse Alex and Neil are also amazing musicians) from playing the bass I am positive that he is the greatest bassist ever and even past the greatest bassist..have you heard his keyboard skill? Countdown has amazing keyboards and the catchy tones he gets from them. But i mean its not a big deal cause hes playing them all at THE SAME TIME! I could go on forever how amazing geddy is but ill stop it here. Rush forever.
