Is that a telephone in your pocket, or is your hip just grotesquely swollen for some reason?

You know, this 1940s manual on proper telephone use is still surprisingly relevant today, although instead of "How to Make Friends by Telephone", a little editing could turn it into the much more useful "How Not to Make Enemies With Your Cell Phone". In particular, "Use a normal tone of voice" seems to be beyond most people.

I just love that picture of Errol Flynn saying "glub-glub-mo-blon". I keep trying to imagine what might possibly be missaid as that.

And thank goodness someone finally gave me the percentages for how good each telephone position was in relation to the mouth. It all seems so clear now.
