Indolence loves company

Trip has managed to sap my productivity very efficiently by pointing me towards this very addictive, very evil little game, from the same people who brought us Grow. It's called Tontie. I've gotten to level ten...once. Come and feel our pain.

Level 10? You bastard. Now I have to spend another zillion hours playing it...

Damn. I'm hooked now too. Why're the powerups so prohibitively expensive? And what exactly is that winged-hammer powerup anyway?

The wings make your hammer faster, which I first realized was a really handy thing around level 8, when things are popping up very very fast and no matter how fast you're punching the keys, the hammer doesn't quite want to keep up. I've had the best luck (made it to level 12...once) with buying wings as soon as I have 80 coins and a store appears, and then saving up for a silver hammer.

No new monsters appeared in levels 11 or 12, reducing my interest level somewhat once I'd made it to that point. I am, however, still intensely curious about when one gets a chance to buy that item that's always out of stock.

Tontie update: Trip and I have both made it to level 14. Still no new monsters; everything just gets faster (until it is stoopid fast), and the ratio of blue bomb-headed monsters to other monsters steadily increases. Anyone out there gotten further?

Never made it past level 9 yet, but playing at work and alt-tabbing out every couple of minutes isn't helping. I'd really like to know about that middle out of stock item as well, anyone manage to get it yet?

Got to level 16 today. Posted a question to the message board asking if that drill thingie EVER becomes available. We'll see...

I have finally made it to level 10. And died rather shortly thereafter.

My guess is that the thing in the middle of the store's meant as a [small] joke - it looks somewhat "ray gun" like to me, and seems very out of place among the hammers. Something along the lines of "and if you could buy this, you'd be done. but you can't!"

My theory was that it was a drill one could use to defuse bombs, and that there would then be some other creature that was more dangerous than the bombs, or something. But I'm thinking that's not the case, given that no new creatures get introduced all the way up to level 16 -- which I spent approximately 10 microseconds playing.

I used to think level 10 was insanely fast. Having played level 14 a few times -- dude, it seems downright leisurely.

Hmm. That'd be cool. It's certainly somewhat frustrating to have it sitting there, sold-out, and mocking you.

This is a surprisingly addictive game. ::shakes head::

Hey guys, just happened upon your msg board and I see that you're as painfully addicted to this game as I am. Was wondering does anyone know what the gold hammer can do different than the silver? I know that the silver lets me hit the maces for life but by the time I get the gold hammer I'm to scared to try to do anything different with it for fear of messing up.

The gold hammer also lets you kill the light blue coin-stealing guys with one hit, which earns you two coins. That seems to be the only difference.
