Heaps of sheeps

Okay, here's why I hate the way our primary system works. Two weeks ago, Kerry was trailing in New Hampshire. (And Scotland will back me up on that.) Now he's leading the pack. Why? Because he won the Iowa primary.

I mean...it's not like any of the candidates have dramatically changed their positions on political issues in the past couple weeks, therefore causing people to reconsider who they're supporting, as far as I know. So it seems to me like a lot of people must have decided to vote for Kerry because, well, other people voted for him, he's probably fine, right?

Isn't this exactly the reason we decided to stop releasing exit poll results until the polls are closed on election night? Because hearing the results might affect how people vote?

It's enough to make you go YEARRRGH.

This is why all the states should have their primaries on the same, federally-mandated day. Of course, since the first primary is essentially becoming the only one that matters, and all the states keep moving their primaries earlier and earlier, this will probably happen anyway, and one day we'll all go to the primaries on the second of January and no one will be pleased with the result.
