Rose has said she should have known her first relationship wasn't going to work out when her boyfriend didn't want to stay for the credits of the first movie they went to see together. As a fellow credit-watcher, this makes perfect sense to me. Here is a (fictional) cautionary tale (in cartoon form) for any of you who sometimes contemplate sneaking out early.
Posted by Francis at 06:13 AMThanks a lot for linking to my crazy little Credits cartoon. I'm an obsessive credits watcher myself, which is what led me to write that strip. Just this Christmas eve, I took a flying leap across the living room, over a coffee table, and tackled my father before he could hit stop on the DVD player, all without taking my eyes off the screen.

Posted by: Ryan at January 1, 2004 04:15 PMNice! I recently enjoyed the comeuppance that a group of impatient people received at a showing of "Return of the King". As you may know, that movie has a very slow winding down, with a lot of scenes that could be the final scene in the film but aren't. They started gathering their things and putting on their coats during the first of those scenes, and were very unhappy 15 minutes later when the movie was still going on. I do sort of wish they had just left early, though. Or never come. They were bad audience members.
Posted by: Francis at January 1, 2004 09:02 PMIn case anyone is wondering -- the movie was Broadcast News. And my date didn't even enjoy it as much as I did, either, which should have been another warning sign!
