One of the stocking stuffers I got for Rose was a candy egg with a toy inside. At one store they had something similar (not an egg, just a sphere), but the toys inside were all Disney-related. I wanted a toy that was a little more random, so I went instead with the Kinder Surprise egg (that's "kinder" as in kindergarten; this candy egg was from a foreign land). Neither of us could have predicted just how random the toy turned out to be, though.
The toy needed some assembly, and on the back of the instructions was this cartoon depicting the finished product in action:

It's really a pretty accurate depiction of the actual toy:

Kind of amazing, really. (Also, the yellow trumpet keys move up and down when it rolls.) It certainly lived up to the word "surprise".

and happy holidays to you both from the kansas city krewe!
Posted by: gotcha at December 30, 2003 12:55 PMIt does not make music, unless one makes one's own trumpety noises while pushing it. So the picture is inaccurate in that respect. Also, cheering crowds have so far failed to materialize when we roll it around, sadly.
