The Bush inevitability watch

The conventional wisdom at the moment seems to be: Saddam Hussein caught = Bush re-elected. But that's a year from now. A lot can happen in a year. Or a week. Like, the Republican you picked to chair the 9/11 commission might come out and say 9/11 was preventable and someone fell down on the job.

Of course, this has been discussed in UK papers for a while now, as has the irrelevance of the invasion of Iraq to the war on terror. If that story is going to start getting some play on network news, the inevitability of Bush's reelection starts looking much more tenuous.
